What kind of photo works best?+
The whole object, up close, in even light, without harsh shadows or blowouts. The clearer the silhouette and shape, the more accurate the model. The background doesn't matter, we remove it automatically.
What if the photo is old or a bit blurry?+
It's worth a try, it often comes out decent. If one shot doesn't give enough shape, upload a few angles of the same object and we'll build the model from those.
Can you make one from a photo of a person or a face?+
Yes. But from a single photo a human figure comes out rougher than a pet or an object. For a person, go with the "one object, multiple angles" mode: front, side, and back, so the shape stays honest from every side.
What are "multiple angles" and when do I need them?+
It's a mode where you upload 2-4 photos of the same object from different sides, and we stitch them into one model. You need it when the shape from the back and side has to be accurate, where a single photo would have to be guessed.
What do you cast in?+
The pendant is cast by hand in pewter, a lead-free tin alloy that's safe on skin. The tone is silvery-gray, like old silver. Three finishes to choose from: natural pewter, polished with a shine, and dark patina that brings out the detail. You can see the finish right on the 3D preview before ordering.
Can you do it in silver or gold?+
The casting itself is pewter for now. You can get a bright silvery look with silver plating over the pewter, that's a separate option on request, just mention it in the note with your request. We plan to add real silver casting later.
How much does it cost?+
It depends on the material, the size, and the final weight of the piece. We'll work out the exact price and confirm it after your request, before any work starts, no surprises after the fact.
How long does it take?+
The 3D model builds in a couple of minutes right in your browser. Casting to order takes longer, we'll give you a specific timeline once you approve the model and we settle the details.
How closely does the model match the original?+
The shape from the photo is built by an algorithm, and the final casting master trues it up and refines it by hand so the detail reads well and wears comfortably. It's not an exact copy down to the millimeter, but a recognizable, solid figure.
What's the size and weight of the pendant?+
About 3 cm tall, a comfortable size for everyday wear. The exact dimensions and weight depend on the shape and material; we'll dial it in for you when we confirm the details.
Does it come with a chain?+
The pendant is made with a loop ready for a chain or cord. We'll talk over the chain option when you place the order.
What happens to my photo?+
We use it only to build your 3D model. We don't need it for anything else.
Can I order several identical ones?+
Yes, for example matching pendants for the whole family or a couple. Just tell us how many when you order.
Can it be an object instead of a living thing?+
Of course. A ring, an earring, a charm, a badge, any object with a clear shape, the engine handles compact objects really well.
